WORCESTER-John Martella, Jr., 88, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital.
He was born in Worcester, son of Italian immigrants John and Mary (Carrera) Martella. John proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. George Catholic Parish. John was employed at Morgan Construction Company for 39 years. Golf was John's passion, and he played in multiple leagues at Greenhill Golf Course. He was also a longtime member of Worcester Fitness and a longtime volunteer at the Ecotarium in Worcester.
John is survived by his sister Nancy Reid in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, three nephews, John Martella and his wife Rebecca of Auburn, Paul Martella and his wife Mary of Worcester, David Martella and his wife Mary Pat of Worcester; three nieces, Nancy Corrigan and her husband Mark of Holden, Andrea Reid of Washington DC and Lisa Scott and her husband David of Spring City, Pennsylvania, and several great nieces and great nephews. John was predeceased by his brother, Leo Martella and his sister, Phyllis Martella who both resided in Worcester.
