John B. "Jack" Peterson 65

Worcester-Jack Peterson passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Tatnuck Park at Worcester after a several years struggle with cancer.

Jack is survived by his father John W. Peterson of Princeton, his sister Sandra of Grafton, his brother Alan and his wife Lori of Reading. He also leaves behind his nephew Noah and nieces Nicole, Emma, Gabrielle, and Celia. His mother Patricia predeceased him exactly one year ago on the same day in June.

Born in Bremerhaven, Germany during his parent's Navy service Jack returned to Worcester in 1958 speaking a few German phrases.

Following his graduation from Saint Marks School in Southboro, Jack enrolled at Dartmouth College-class of 1979. His
interest in computer technology at Saint Marks with the machines now considered "primitive" led to a future career as a computer programmer and analyst. His college major subjects of mathematics and film studies forecasted a wide range of interests. As a projectionist for the Dartmouth Film Society, he found great satisfaction viewing (and maintaining) classic films both modern and from the early 1920's.

Shortly after Dartmouth graduation, Jack joined Burlington Stores, Inc. which had set up a computer center in nearby Lebanon, New Hampshire to take advantage of newly minted graduates with computer skills. His association with Burlington lasted 36 years-the last 4 years "working from home" after the Lebanon office had relocated to New Jersey.

In addition to his outdoor activities of skiing, golf and biking, Jack enjoyed the challenge of raising Japanese Bonsai plants which require demanding "care and feeding".

A Memorial service will be held at the Princeton Congregational Church, 14 Mountain Rd. Princeton at 11 a.m. on Friday June 18. Callahan, Fay, Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester is handling arrangements.
