Jon was born in Worcester and lived in the Sutton Northbridge area most of his life. He attended Worcester Boys Trade graduating in 1980 with a High School diploma and trade certificate in Welding.  After High School he worked at the New London Naval Submarine Base in Groton CT where he plied his trade as a welder working in and on submarines.  He went on to join Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 as a laborer installing sprinkler systems in buildings throughout greater New England.  His work can be seen at St Vincent Hospital Atrium, look up about 100 feet and you will see his handywork.  He worked for the Business Agent as a Union Recruiter for a number of years before transitioning back to a laborer and onto retirement.

Jon was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, all seasons, with his favorite being ice fishing and his trips to Vermont with his friends from Singletary Rod and Gun.  Jon was also a hunter of upland game, pheasants, and was always in pursuit of that elusive 200lb buck “Henry” running behind his private game preserve on the family farm.  His greatest trophy was a 197lb buck which he proudly had stuffed and mounted in his trophy room a.k.a. Martha’s Dining Room.  BBQ was a passion, and he was a Master.  His Labor Day events, rain or shine, where his smoked delicacies were enjoyed by all were an epicurean experience not to be missed.  Children were a joy to him whether they were his children, grandchildren or the children of family members or friends.

He was a member of the Singletary Rod & Gun Club in Oxford, a Sons of the American Legion - Dudley Gendron Post in Sutton, Canal Sportsman Club Buzzards Bay Ma, past member of the 200 Sportsman Club in Webster Ma, National Rifle Association of America, SRG Blackpatch Muzzle Loaders, and an upstanding member of the One More Club.
