WORCESTER- Jose Martel, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Christopher House, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Maisonet (Doña Lola) who passed away in 2010.
Jose was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 17, 1934 a son of the late Pablo and Cleofe (Gonzalez). He was a hardworking and devoted family man who held the respect of everyone he met. He enjoyed smoking his Garcia Vega Cigars while sipping on a cup of coffee. Jose was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He will be remembered for his contagious smile, beautiful personality and zest for life.
Jose leaves many to continue his legacy whom will miss him deeply including, his daughters, Maritza Rodriguez and Miriam Martel, both of Worcester, Ana Rita Martel of Connecticut and his son, Jose Martel, Jr., of New York; siblings, four generations of grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many caring friends.
He was predeceased by his son, Angel Ventura.
Family and friends will gather to honor, remember and celebrate his life on Saturday, May 26th from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Following cremation, a private burial will be held at Hope Cemetery where he will be reunited with his loving wife.
