Worcester- Joseph G. Caramiello, 89, passed peacefully Thursday, March 7th in UMASS University Campus.
He was born in Worcester, son of Ciro and Maria (Abatantuono) Caramiello. He graduated from Commerce High School in the class of `52 and attended Clark University, before serving in the US Army during the Korean War.
Joe worked for the US Postal Service for almost 40 years, spending most of his time at the Greendale Branch. Joe was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. He was an antique car enthusiast and was particularly proud of his `49 Ford. He enjoyed his crossword puzzles and loved wintering with Carol in Dunedin, FL.
His wife, Carol A. (Zannotti) Caramiello passed away in 2022. He leaves three children, Joseph G. Caramiello and his wife, Mary of Auburn, Michael Caramiello and his wife, Marilyn of Dudley and Debra Peterson and her husband, Eric of Florida; six grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, and Michael Caramiello and Marisa Machado, Zachary Peterson and Stephanie Menendez; a great-granddaughter, Agnes May Menendez; and a sister, Marie Nieszyewski and her husband, Grant of Leicester. He was predeceased by his brother, Gino and a grandson, Anthony.
Family and friends are invited to a visiting hour on Thursday, March 14th from 9:30-10:30am at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 23 Fales St., Worcester, burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Joe’s family requests that memorial donations be considered to Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
