Joseph P. Carroll, 85, of 26 Crescent St. died Monday (Jan7) at Saint Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Mary L. (Dapska) Carroll, a son, Robert J. Carroll of West Boylston, a brother, William P. Carroll of Shrewsbury, three grandsons, Brian Carroll of Paxton, Robert Carroll Jr. of Worcester, Sean Carroll of West Boylston, several nephews and nieces. A brother Thomas Carroll of Worcester and two sisters, Margaret Foudy of Worcester and Mary Carroll of Clinton pre-deceased him. He was born in Worcester son of Thomas J. and Margaret J. (Nee) Carroll. He attended Worcester Schools. He was an Army Veteran of WW II serving in the European Theatre.

He was a Maintenance Foreman for 34 years for the Water Department of the City of Worcester retiring in 1980 prior to that he worked at Crompton-Knowles Company and American Steel and Wire Company.

He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and the Retired Municipal, City, County and State Association

A Funeral will be held Thursday (Jan10) from Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 111 Worcester St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
