WORCESTER-Joseph H. Martell, 75, died Monday, April 25, 2022, at the Jewish Healthcare Center after a long illness.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Paul J. and Celina B. (Hebert) Martell and graduated from North High School. Joe worked for WRTA for 33 years as a mechanic.
Joseph is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Dorothy L. (Fisher) Martell and their four children: daughter, Jo A. Lavallee of Worcester and three sons, Paul D. Martell and his wife Jennifer of Worcester, Francis Martell and his wife Christina of Boylston and Russell J. Martell and his wife Jennifer of Worcester. Joe also leaves 14 grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Hailey, Abigail, Lacie, Michelle, Rachel, Brody, Aidan, Tori, Josie, Isabella, Vincent, and Gabriella; a brother, Richard Martell and his wife Diane of FL, and a sister, Mary Ryant and her husband Tom of NY; and many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Roger, and Paul Martell.
Joe bartended part time at Rosie O'Grady's for several years. He was an avid dart player and belonged to the Worcester Dart League and the Bud Light Dart League. He enjoyed going to the casino with Dot or Russ and Jen, watching Nascar, and following the Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys and Boston Bruins.
A Memorial of Joseph's Life will be held Friday, May 6th from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Jewish Health Care Center Dementia Unit or the Jewish Healthcare Hospice Unit, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609
