Joseph A. Michniewicz, 73 of 23 Knollwood Rd., died Tuesday, June 21 at home. He leaves a son, Joseph Michniewicz and his wife Katherine, of Encinitas, California; a daughter: Susan, wife of Christopher Rhine of Murrieta, California; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Michniewicz, Christine Rhine, and Nicholas Rhine; two sisters: Joanna Michaels of North Brookfield and Marjann, wife of Fred Les of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, George Michniewicz, predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester son of Joseph A. and Marjorie (Swinski) Michniewicz and graduated from St. John Kanty Prep. School in Erie, PA and Boston University. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Joseph was an Outdoor Writer for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette and author of several sportsman books. He was also a retired technical representative for Dade Reagents of Florida. Joe was a member of the Leicester Sportsman Club, New England Fly tiers, Past president of Worcester County League of Sportsman's Clubs and a Past Member of Quabbin Reservoir Sportsman's Advisory Board.
The funeral will be held Saturday, June 25, from LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 3 Wiser Ave., Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling Hours are Friday, June 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
