WORCESTER - Joseph T. O’Connor, 80, passed away Wednesday, May 25 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 37 years, Wiley (Cameron) O’Connor; three children, Ian O’Connor and his fiancé, Sarah Tollett of Providence, RI, Heidi McIntyre and her partner, John Roberge of Northbridge and Melinda Lindgren and her husband, Shaun of Holden; three grandchildren, Kendra (McIntyre) and husband Daniel Swett, Joseph McIntyre and Bryn Lindgren; two great grandchildren, Liam and Charlie Swett. Joe leaves one brother, John O’Connor, and five sisters, Mary Prendiville, Shelia Lorion, Donna Pickett, Kathaleen Coonan and Joanne McEntee and many, nieces and nephews. Two siblings, Patricia Prendiville and Walter O’Connor predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of John and Anna (Peletier) O’Connor and graduated from St. Johns.
Joe served honorably in the US Army and later worked as a diesel mechanic, before retiring. Joe was one-of-kind! He was always ready with a helping hand for family, friend or stranger. He worked hard and knew how to fix or build anything. He had the Irish gift of “gab” and loved meeting new people in his travels. Once he met you, he never forgot you – he always remembered your name and your “story”. Joe loved to travel, especially to Florida and bake in the sun. He cherished his time with his family and will be missed.
Visiting Hours are Tuesday,May 31 from 4-7pm with a Prayer Service at 6:45pm in Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Food Pantry, 40 Temple St., Worcester, 01604.
