WORCESTER-Joseph P. Perry, 95, of Worcester passed away Monday, January 4th at home. Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mae (Beauregard) Perry who died June 11, 2010. He leaves three sons, Stephen J. Perry of Worcester, Kenneth J. Perry of Dennisport, and James M. Perry of Worcester. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Stephanie Stuart and her husband Mark of Oxford, Michelle Casella of Oxford, John Perry and his wife Bonnie of Santa Rosa, CA, Julie Abdow and her husband Christopher of Marston Mills, Andrea Balliett and her husband Jamie of Orleans, Brian Perry of Yukon, OK, Alison Perry of E. Hartford, CT and Andrew Perry of Irving, TX. Joseph leaves nine great grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Kelsey, Matthew, Madison, Cyrus, Hazel, Thomas and Jack. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Walter Perry, Emmanuel Perry and a sister Evelyn Mangsen.
Joseph was born October 5, 1920 in Hartford, CT, the son of Emanuel and Mary (Corcoran) Perry. He worked for Riley Stoker Corp. for many years, retiring as a senior engineering specialist in 1986. He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving with the 304th Ordnance Regiment and with Co. E, 118th Infantry Regiment, serving in England, North France, Rhineland and central Europe. Joseph was a member of Christ the King Church and the Retired Men's Club of Greendale. Among his interests were woodworking, drawing and boat building, having built his own 19 foot long sailing sloop in which he spent many happy hours on Webster Lake.
The funeral will be held Friday, January 8 from CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours are Thursday, January 7 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
