Joseph F. Wrenn 87, of 4 Pickering St. died Friday, Oct 10, at the Life Care Center of Auburn, after an illness.
His wife Dorothy F. (Butterfield) Wrenn died in 1984. He leaves several nephews and nieces, among them, Donna C. Wrenn of Auburn and Brookfield and Sharon A. Recore of Thompson, CT and several great nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph F. and Mary (Kelliher) Wrenn. He graduated from St. Peter's High School and was an Army Veteran of WWII , serving in the 13th Airborne Division.
He was a letter carrier for the Worcester Post Office for 33 years, retiring several years ago. He was a member of North American Martyrs Church, the Greendale Retired Men's Club and its bowling and golf leagues, the Auburn Senior Citizens and was a former coach at St. Mary's Baseball High School. He was inducted into the St. Peter's Hall of Fame where he was a three sport standout in football, basketball and baseball and considered the best fielder ever in Guardian baseball history.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct 14, from LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME 36 Butler St, Worcester, with a mass 10 a.m. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Dr. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling Hours are Monday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
