Joyce A. (LaMere) Johnson, 65, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at home peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and husband. She was the beloved wife of David Johnson and mother of Brenda, Joseph and James Mullaney and April, Eric and Tanya Johnson. She also leaves her sisters, Gloria Dimmick and Pearl Lascko; ten grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention. A sister, Barbara Prendiville and a brother, Clifford LaMere, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Clifford E. and Lorenda (Doucette) LaMere.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, MeMe and friend. She will be fondly missed by all and has a place in our hearts forever. She had faced many challenges in her lifetime, climbed many mountains and was a inspiration to those who knew her. She now is in a peaceful place.
Joyce had worked many years alongside her husband at Main South Seafoods. She also worked at Main South CDC and was a former director of WCUW radio, Worcester, MA. She was a volunteer at the Quinsigamond Village Community Center and a member of the Worcester Indian Intertribal Center. Her native name was Autumn Bear.
Visiting Hours will be held Monday, Oct 16., from 5 to 8 PM with a Christian and Native American Service to be held at 7 PM at LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St. A Memorial Collation will be held on Sunday, November 5 at 1:00 PM in Greendale People's Church, 25 Francis Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, The Joyce Johnson Memorial Fund for a memorial plaque in her name, c/o TD Banknorth, 500 Grafton St., Worcester, 01604.
