WORCESTER- Juan E. Mejía, 60, of Worcester passed away Tuesday, February 17 in UMASS Medical Center.

Today we gather to honor and remember Juan Emilio Mejía —He was born in Bani, Dominican Republic, son of Juan Maria Mejía and Santa Deyanira De Mejía.

Juan Mejía was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a man whose presence filled every room with warmth. Juan deeply loved his daughters, Kiara Mejía and Karina Mejía. They were his greatest pride and joy. Everything he did, he did with them in his heart. He also leaves behind his beloved wife, Okaira Cepeda, his step-daughters Thaissha and Thasha Vásquez, his brothers Freddy Mejía and Manuel Mejía, his sisters Irene Mejía and Nurys Mejía, former wife Marcia Maldonado, nieces and nephews who all stood by him with love and strength.

Juan battled cancer with courage, displaying the same strength that defined his life. Although the disease took him from us, it never took his spirit, his love, or his dignity. He found happiness in the simple and beautiful things—the sound of a bat at a baseball game and the joy of cooking meals that brought everyone together. An excellent chef, he shared not only food but love, laughter, and comfort in every dish he prepared. We will miss him deeply, but he will always be with us. May Juan Emilio Mejía rest in eternal peace.
