LAKEVILLE-Judith Anne “Judy” Starr of Lakeville passed away at the age of 60 on January 10, 2026 due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. For the past twelve years she had resided at a Southeastern Residential Services’ group home.
Judy was the daughter of Joseph T. and Genivieve “Gwen” F. Starr, both deceased. She leaves behind three sisters, Sandra Starr Sojka and her husband, Paul of Richmond, VA, Nancy Starr Chapman and her husband, David of Pittsburgh, PA and Kathryn Starr Croan and her husband, Daniel of Bernalillo, NM. Her memory will also be cherished by her nieces and nephews, Stephen and Joseph Sojka, Christine and Daniel Chapman, and Andrew and Rachel Croan; as well as her great-nieces and nephews, Lily and Luke Sojka, Camden Evans, Callen Nichols, and Sevi Croan.
Judy was born on October 28, 1965 in Worcester. During her early childhood the family lived in Raynham and at the age of eight years, she and her family moved to West Boylston. She attended school and later a workshop at Mercy Center of Catholic Charities in Worcester County.
In 2014, Judy moved to Lakeville to reside in her home run by SRS. It was there that she found her second family and thrived in her new life.
During her time in the Lakeville area, Judy attended numerous Adult Day Habilitation Programs: AHS, ARC, BAMSI, and WISE. The Department of Developmental services (DDS) and Southeastern Residential Services also played an important part in her life. The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the services, care and support that these organizations provided for Judy.
Throughout her life, Judy was subject to numerous medical challenges, however, this did not dampen Judy’s spirit. In her youth she participated in Special Olympics in various track events. She loved music, especially oldies, dancing and dining out. Judy enjoyed concerts, movies including scary horror movies and watching her favorite wrestling matches, and the Hallmark channel.
Judy was a member of the Lakeville Council on Aging and participated in Bingo, arts and crafts and enjoyed attending holiday functions with other Lakeville residents.
With the Pink Ladies, she gathered with her friends and attended whale watches, zoos, Mohegan Sun casino, bowling, movies, luncheons and many other fun activities.
Judy’s infectious happiness, strength in adversity and joy for life allowed her to have a nice life and develop many friendships. She was well loved by her families and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Friends and Family are welcome to attend visitation on Thursday, January 22 from 5 -7pm at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 23 at 11am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund at www.curealz.org
