ASHLAND-Kapriel Kaprielian, 89, passed away Sunday, February 2 at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Worcester, son of Armenian Genocide Survivors, Nishan and Zarouhi (Nordigian) Kaprealian and graduated from Classical High School and Northeastern University. He then proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Kap as he was called by his family and friends worked for 34 years for, General Services Administration in Boston, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, a member and past Chairman of the Men's Club; a member and a past chairman of the church's board of trustees and active with the church golf fund raising event. He was also member of the Knights of Vartan, Arshavir Lodge, Worcester. In the 50's he founded the Aramite Band with his friends and played locally in clubs.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Lucille (Bedrossian) Kaprielian; two sons, Stephen R. Kaprielian and wife, Ann of West Yarmouth and Chris A. Kaprielian and his wife, Kelly of Ashland; two grand-daughters, Dr. Danielle M. Kaprielian and Joanne M. Kaprielian and a brother in law, William Johnson of Virginia. A son, Robert Kaprielian and a sister, Elizabeth K. Johnson predeceased him.
Visiting Hours are Friday, February 7 from 10-11am followed by a Funeral Service at 11am in Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 635 Grove St., Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kap's church, a place he so loved.
