Holden- Karla Mae Lundquist, 59, of the Jefferson section of Holden, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Leahy Hospital, Burlington, MA after a short illness. She was born in Worcester on August 26, 1956.
Karla was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School, Holden, and Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA.
Karla worked for the Food and Drug Administration, New England District Office for 33 years. She held several jobs, most recently as an Office Automation Assistant for the Administration Branch. She received numerous awards over the years including, The FDA Commissioner's Special Citation as a member of the Multi-State Meningitis Outbreak Response in 2013, the FDA Group Recognition Award as a member of the Compounding Inspections and Enforcement Team also in 2013, The FDA Group Recognition Award as a member of the New England District File Management Team in 2009 and was nominated as Boston District's Outstanding Secretary of the year in 1988.
Karla was a member of the First Congregational Church in Princeton and enjoyed reading, playing the piano, playing with her cats, birdwatching and trips to the Art Museum.
She is predeceased by her parents, Mae (Ahlstrom ) Lundquist, Herbert Lundquist. She leaves many cousins and extended family, including her local cousins, Joan F. Swanson of Holden, Joan's daughter, Jodi Utter of Princeton, Beverly Vanasse of Princeton and Sandra Sorblom of Princeton. She also leaves cousins Weyman I. Lundquist, Terry Krier, Eleanor Taylor, Muggan Noyes,Marilyn Planny, Cathy Lundquist, Betty Lundquist, and many other cousins and extended family members throughout New England and in Sweden, her loving cats, Blackie and Boo and her co-workers at the FDA.
The family wishes to thank the Lahey Hospital, Burlington for the exceptional care that Karla received during her stay with them and the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for her.
Calling hours will be on Monday, October 12th, at the Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Her Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, October 13th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Princeton, 14 Mountain Road. Burial will be private in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester.
