Worcester- Katherine A. DiReda, 85, of Hope Ave., passed away on Saturday June 13, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 26, 1929 in Worcester, the youngest daughter of 11 children, to the late Stanley and Aleksandra (Archcka) Stepien. She grew up in Worcester and attended local schools graduating from the Fanning Trade School as a Power Stitcher.
Katherine met and married Nicholas J. DiReda and the two were married for 52 years until his passing in 2002. At that time they began raising a family and she would leave her job as a power stitcher and stay home to help raise her young children. Mrs.DiReda was a devout catholic and a woman of deep faith. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Angels Church for many years, and a lifelong resident of the City of Worcester.
She will be deeply missed by her three children, Nicholas J. DiReda Jr., and his wife Patricia (Towne) of N.Oxford; Christina Carlo of Worcester; and Andrea Taber and her husband Donald of Sharon; Five grandchildren, Daniel and Timothy McCarthy; Nicholas III, Alexandra and Isabella DiReda
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, June 25, from 5 until 8pm at the CALLAHAN-FAY-CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 26, at Our Lady of Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
