WORCESTER-Katherine J. (Sweeney) Giroux, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 7 in Bear Mountain Rehabilitation.
She was born in Athol, daughter of Richard R. and Phyllis A. (Pecoy) Sweeney. She was the middle child of 9. She attended Quinsigamond Community College.
Katie worked at PA Cleaners in Worcester and for many years as a Mary Kay representative. She loved crafts. She was an avid crocheter and was very generous at giving gifts of hats and blankets to the little ones. At craft shows she was the lady who did not cut her towels in half. If you have a crochet towel hanging on your kitchen stove, chances are you have met her or have one of the towels she crocheted. She befriended new crafters and took them under her wing and showed them the great world of craft shows. She was always ready to tell you about her adventures and stories, she could talk your ear off for hours.
Her husband of 43 years, Russell A. Giroux died in 2018. She was affectionately known as, Flipper to her husband. She leaves, her Brother-In-law Roger Giroux Clearwater, FL, her stepchildren, Karen Frasieur and her husband Scott, Rebecca Sandine and her husband Larry, Brenda Johnson and her husband Rick, Lynn Peterson and her husband Chris, and Barbara Crittenden and her husband Jay.
It was Katie's wish that no funeral services be held. Arrangements are in the care of Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street.
