WORCESTER — Kathleen A. (Murphy) Blyther, affectionately known to many as “Chick,” passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, at UMass Memorial Hospital – University Campus, surrounded by the family she cherished. She was 75.

A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Kathleen’s life was defined by her warmth, humor, and unwavering love for those around her. She is survived by her daughters, Tracy Blyther and Darice Cruz and wife Kristy Cruz; and her bonus daughter, Ja’Niyah Alejandro. She also leaves her siblings, Jacqueline Williams of Worcester, MA; Deborah Hamilton, Sherri Hampton, and Kevin Murphy, all of Toledo, Ohio; as well as her beloved aunt, Gloria (Kelley) Ross.

Kathleen’s legacy continues through her many grandchildren — Tashiani, Darien, Brianna, Richie, Sharief, Tyrese, Khalil, Kassandra, Shadea, Jahari, Jeff Jr., Daeshawn, Giyani, and Jaziah — each of whom brought her immense joy. She also leaves a beautiful and ever-growing circle of great‑grandchildren: Za’Nyah, Za’Myre, Keh’lani, Kairi, Isaiah, Izaac, Azerai, Zyaire, Zariyah, Melody, Sharief Jr., Kimora, Ka’Miah, Jessie, Jaceon, Ka’lani, Nyaila, Khalia, Khalil (second), Chleo, and Khylo. Kathleen was predeceased by three grandchildren, Shaunice, Matthew and Jah’nye, whom she now joins in eternal rest.

Born in Worcester, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Clifford Murphy and Lillian (Kelley) Adams. She spent many years working in retail, ultimately retiring as a manager — a role that reflected her natural leadership, compassion, and ability to connect with anyone she met.

Kathleen found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved trips to the casino, unwinding with Candy Crush, and settling in for movies and her favorite soap operas. But above all, she treasured time spent with her family. Her presence — steady, loving, and full of personality — will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
