Kathleen L. Crowley McKellar

WORCESTER-Kathleen L. Crowley McKellar 83, formerly of Sydney, Australia and Honolulu, Hawai'i, died at home on December 20, 2010. Mrs. McKellar was born in Worcester, the daughter of Edward D. and Kathleen L. Donnelly Crowley and was predeceased by her brothers Denis M., Ralph D., Edward D., sister Carol C. Hanlon and brother James D. Crowley. Her husband Joseph Malcomb McKellar died in 2005 and a son, Edward J. McKellar died in infancy.
She is survived by her daughters Kathleen L. Davidson and husband Gregory of Sydney, Australia, Mary C. Racicot and husband Peter of Worcester, with whom she made her home, Teresa L. Schuler and husband Eric of Clyde Hill, WA, and Valentina Nash and husband Jeffrey of Las Vegas, NV, and her sister Mary V.C. Callahan of Worcester and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McKellar is also survived by her daughter Kathleen's children, Pua Whitford and husband William, and Mele and Maika Scott; Mary's children Leah Kohlstrom and husband Adam and Joseph, Jesse and Daniel Racicot; and Terry's children Alexander, Nicholas and Caroline Schuler. Also her great grandchildren, Wailana Whitford and Samuel, Joshua and Abigail Kohlstrom.
Mrs. McKellar graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart Kenwood Academy, Albany, NY and The Garland School, Boston. She traveled extensively with her husband who had been a special envoy to the Far East appointed under President Eisenhower. She was a founding member of the Australian American Club, volunteered for Rest and Relaxation for U.S. Servicemen, Meals on Wheels, and was an incorporator of the Aboriginal Cultural Commission. While residing in Honolulu Mrs. McKellar volunteered at the Bishop Museum, was a Trustee of the Honolulu Philharmonic, and was an active member of the Hui Nalu Canoe Club. After returning to Massachusetts, Mrs. McKellar was the Director of the Customer Loyalty Program at Polar Beverages, which her grandfather established.
A Mass to celebrate Kathleen's life will be said at the Cathedral of St. Paul, 15 Chatham Street, Worcester on Thursday, January 6th at 4pm. Any remembrances of Mrs. McKellar may be donated to the Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or the UMass Anatomical Gift Program, 55 Lake Avenue North, Worcester, MA 01605.
