AUBURN - Kathleen A. Morrissey-Brosnihan, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 5, 2022. She is reunited with her beloved son, Matthew, who died in 2003.
Kathleen was born in Worcester on January 22, 1944, daughter to the late T. Frances and Helen (O’Connor) Morrissey. She graduated from St. Peter’s Central Catholic High School, and from Becker College with a degree in Business, and in 1974 she began a 30-year career as the office manager for the IBEW Local 96. After her retirement she continued working part time in the rectory for St. Bernard’s Church.
A devout catholic, Kathleen was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church. She cherished time spent with family and friends and kept active memberships in both the LAOH, a sisterhood of Irish and Irish-American Catholic women, and the Chester P. Tuttle Post 279. She enjoyed traveling, taking local trips with the senior’s groups, crossword puzzles and lunches with her close group of friends. Kathleen loved Irish culture and was fortunate to be able to travel to Ireland to explore its heritage.
She leaves behind her husband, Daniel F. Brosnihan, Jr; her daughters, Christine Cotter and her husband, Kevin McLaughlin of Franklin, Deidre Annese and her husband, James of Thompson, CT; two brothers, Thomas Morrissey of Auburn, and Robert Morrissey of Worcester; six grandchildren, Justine, Jerrika, Kayli, Julia, Lindsey and Matt.
Family and friends will celebrate Kathleen’s life with visiting hours from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, September 8th at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, September 9th at St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main St., Worcester. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers her family asks that memorial donations be considered to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
