Kathleen F. (Murphy) Porcella

July 3, 1949 — March 14, 2025

West Boylston

Kathleen F. (Murphy) Porcella, age 75, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love and care of her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted daughter, Renee Legendre, her son-in-law Jeffrey Legendre, and her cherished grandchildren, Ava and Maximus. Kathleen is also survived by her sister, Joann T. Daniels of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, her nephew, Christopher Rose of Swampscott, MA, her niece, Joann M. Daniels of Sherman, Texas, and her former husband and father of their daughter, James Porcella of Worcester, MA. She leaves behind several beloved extended family members from the Porcella family, as well as dear friends, especially those from down the “Lane.” Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents.

Born in Medford, Massachusetts, Kathleen was the daughter of Theresa Murphy (Presutti) and Charles Murphy. She attended Medford High School, where she actively participated in various school activities and cultivated friendships that would last a lifetime. After high school, she attended the Northeastern-Tufts dental assistant program, dedicating many years to working and teaching in the dental field. Kathleen later enjoyed a successful sales career with the former Ziff/Bunzl Company of West Boylston, where she formed close friendships with many of her colleagues.

No matter where life’s path took her, Kathleen was known for her infectious sense of humor — her greatest gift to everyone she met. She was the comedian of every gathering, celebration, local shop, hairdresser’s appointment, and even her doctor’s visits. Her famous rendition of the French National Anthem, often performed while wearing a fur coat in July, will forever be remembered as a signature moment that perfectly captured her lively spirit and originality — all the more amusing since she held no French lineage.

Kathleen lived her life with joy and a firm belief that laughter and kindness built stronger connections than serious conversations ever could. She was a warm-hearted woman who cared deeply for those she loved. Her greatest blessings in life were her two grandchildren, whom she adored more than anything. Being “Nana” brought her immeasurable happiness, and she felt incredibly grateful to have lived so close to Ava and Maximus, sharing daily moments with them for so many precious years.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the team at VNA Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during Kathleen’s final days. Special thanks are also extended to Elder Services of Worcester for their daily meals, visits, and “jokes” that brought Kathleen comfort and joy. Their kindness and dedication provided great comfort to Kathleen and her family.
