MILLBURY- Kathleen M. (Smith) Bubon, 85, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018. Her beloved husband, Raymond J. Bubon, 90, passed away on July 8, 2018.
Kathleen was born on July 15, 1932. She grew up in her beloved city of Lowell, MA. After graduating from Lowell High School she earned a nursing degree from Tewksbury School of Nursing. She enjoyed a career in various hospitals, including Bellevue Hospital in Brookline and St. Vincents Hospital in Worcester, and several area nursing homes. Retiring early to care for her beloved grandchildren. She had a passion for reading as well as spending summers in Salisbury Beach.
Raymond was born on June 20, 1928. After moving to Worcester from Palmer, MA with his family he graduated from Commerce High School and the Worcester School of Business Science. Ray enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he began work with the Thompson Wire Company where he was employed as a foremen and wire specialist. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, passing on his passion for both to his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated New England Sports Fan.
They met each other at Old Orchard Beach Maine as young adults, married and spend the next 59 years of their lives raising a beautiful family. Mr. and Mrs. Bubon cherished time spent with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
They leave behind their children, Michael J. Bubon and his wife, Pamela of Oxford, Maureen A. Nelson and her husband, Paul of Auburn, Marsha A. Bubon and her partner, Ross Flagg of Boca Raton, FL., Mark J. Bubon and his partner, Tracey Piligian of Worcester, Milissa A. St. Jean of Millbury; Mariann Lavallee and her husband, Michael of Auburn; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Kathleen is survived by a brother, Paul C. Smith of Salisbury; Raymond is survived by a sister, Alice Michniewicz of Murrieta, CA.
Mrs. Bubon is predeceased by her parents, Frederick L. Smith and Marion (Chappell) Smith; four siblings, Frederick Smith, Marion Prescott, Frances Penney and Ann Smith.
Mr. Bubon is predeceased by his parents, Albert Bubon and Bertha (Kos) Bubon; his siblings, Peter, John and Frank Bubon, Mary Vostok, Cecilia Kane and Josephine Pickett.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Summit ElderCare, Worcester Elder Services and Beacon Hospice for the outstanding care they provided to our parents and the compassion they demonstrated to our entire family.
Family and friends will honor, remember and celebrate their lives on Thursday, July 12th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. and Mrs. Bubon at 10:00am on Friday, July 13th at the North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Dr., Auburn. Following their Mass they will be laid to rest together at Worcester Country Memorial Park.
