Kathleen (Kay) Sears, 86, died peacefully Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Worcester Rehab. Kay was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Georgia (Harris) Brady. She leaves two daughters, Linda Leyden Illiano and her husband Gary of Pasadena CA, and Nancy Leyden Cashman and the late Shaun B. Cashman of Old Lyme CT; three stepsons, Robert B. Sears and his fianc%C3%A9 Tracy of Berlin, Stephen Sears and his wife Cindy of Boylston and Michael Sears of Cape Coral, FL. Kay also leaves seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She graduated from South High School in Worcester class of 1946 and completed an Art program at the Worcester Art Museum. Kay was well known for her art work, especially her painting of "The Mill" at Moore State Park in Paxton. She held various administrative positions at the Town Hall in Paxton. She also owned The Shop at Black Hill Road that she ran with her late husband Dick. Throughout her life Kay was an active member of All Saints Church and Paxton Lions Club. She was also a student at Worcester State College, at 70 concentrating in elder services. Her creativity, quick wit, and sarcasm will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 31 at 11:00 am in CALLAHAN FAY CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street Worcester. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. Visiting hours are on Thursday, July 30 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Needy Cats Corporation, 305 Redemption Rock Trail, Princeton, MA 01541.
