Kenneth W. Stidsen, Jr., 77, of Sterling, passed away peacefully at his home on January 4th, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Claire (Bottcher) Stidsen; their two daughters, Christina C. Volkema and her husband Glenn of Mattapoisett, and Teresa D. Keller and her husband Greg of Crestone, Colorado; as well as his brother Brian Stidsen and his wife Paula of Rutland, and sister-in-law Diane Stidsen of Shrewsbury. Ken was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Cole, Sasha, Indigo, and Skye. He was predeceased by his brother, Gregory Stidsen.
Born in Worcester to Kenneth W. Stidsen, Sr. and Shirley A. (Berggren) Stidsen, Ken proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he had a successful career as a mechanical engineer at Norton Co. until his retirement.
Ken had a deep passion for antique cars, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was an ardent supporter of local sports teams including the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Bruins. In addition, Ken was a longstanding advocate for gun rights and an instructor for the Massachusetts Hunters Education Program at NORCO Sportsman’s club.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10th from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with the burial to take place at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling.
