Kevin M. McCormick

WEST BOYLSTON-Kevin M. McCormick, 75, passed away Thursday, September 3 in his home.

He was born Worcester, the son of John F. and Dorothy H. (Robinson) McCormick and graduated from St. Peter’s High School 69’ and Worcester State College 74’.

Kevin began working for his beloved West Boylston at an early age for the Park Department; he would go on to become a volunteer Firefighter and eventually a Firefighter for the Town for many years. He was the secretary for the Wachusett Fire Association for 35 years and severed on the Fire Departments Muster Team.

Kevin, always the entrepreneur, founded Beaman Tavern in 1984 and later in 1999 Finder’s Pub. A gathering place for so many people in West Boylston. Kevin never to be out done, also opened Keeper’s Pub alongside Finders, several years later. Both pubs were famously known for hosting the Saint Patrick’s Day Shortest Parade every March, an event Kevin looked forward to all year.

Kevin was a Selectman for the Town of West Boylston for 15 years. He also was the past president and coach of the West Boylston Little League, a founder and coach of the West Boylston Pop Warner League and was particularly proud of coaching for the Special Olympics at the former Mercy Center in Worcester. In his retirement one of Kevin's greatest joys was his many years as a bus driver. He cherished the children he drove, affectionately calling them "his kids". Their smiles, stories, and familiar faces brought him joy.

He leaves his wife of 27 years, Kathleen A. (Mortell) McCormick; two daughters, Tara Wardrop and her husband, Michael of Scarborough, ME and Katie McCormick of Scarborough, ME; five grandchildren, Evan, Brooke, Julia, Nora and Lily; a sister, Virginia “Ginny” Aiello and her husband, Dennis of West Boylston; four step-children, Brett, Melissa, Lindsay, and Adam Richards of West Boylston and six step-grandchildren, Johnny, Jason, Vivian, Lola, Mason, and Emma. His brother, John F. McCormick, III and sister-in-law, Pauline A. (Taffe) McCormick, predeceased him.

Visiting Hours are Friday, September 11 from 4 to 7pm at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 12 at 10am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Boylston Fire and Ambulance Fund, 39 Worcester St., West Boylston, 01583 or to the UMass Memorial Advanced Transplant Program in support of the dedicated transplant team and the patient they care for.
