Worcester – Kevin M. McCrea, 83, a resident of Worcester passed away on Friday, December 29 at UMASS Medical Center from an illness.
He leaves behind three children: Kevin McCrea, Jr. of Florida, Brian McCrea and his wife Mandy of Carver, MA, and Tina Johnson and her husband Sven of Webster, MA. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Camila, Magnolia, and Hailey McCrea. Additionally, Kevin leaves behind two sisters: Bonnie McCrea of Worcester, and Ann McCrea of Worcester but predeceased by his brother Stephen McCrea.
Born in Worcester on May 12, 1940, he was the son of Edwin A. and Mary Elizabeth (Sullivan) McCrea and graduated from South High School. He grew up working alongside his father at the former McCrea Funeral Home on Main Street in Worcester. He was a well-known and well-respected funeral assistant for many local funeral homes in the area. Kevin made friends easily and was often a helpmate to the underprivileged. As a teenager he created a popular singing group called the Fresh Lads. He enjoyed photography, was a skilled handyman, and spent time growing and caring for a fine collection of African Violets.
A private family graveside service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
