WORCESTER- Kristin Lee Kotel, 73, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022 with her daughters by her side.
She was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on April 28, 1949 to the late Chester and Georgianna (Vantine) Whittemore. Kris was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1967 before matriculating to Plymouth State College where she would meet her future husband, James F. Kotel.
Kris was a licensed real estate agent and worked for several firms including many years at A.A. Zamarro Real Estate Company. She cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren and made many special memories at their home in York Beach, Maine. She was a social and outgoing person whose greatest motto was to “ALWAYS BE KIND”. Kris cherished the simple things in life like a walk along the beach, reading a good novel, solving crossword puzzles, watching movies, attending sporting events, visiting museums, and seeing plays and concerts. In earlier years when her children were young, she enjoyed camping in the White Mountains and going on family skiing trips. Kris and her husband will be forever remembered for the time and dedication they put in with the Jesse Burkett Little League program where they volunteered as a team manager and coach respectively. Kris was an active member of the Friends of Worcester Boys and Girls Club and Holiday Rock, which raised thousands of dollars over the years to provide funds for the holidays and summer programming for the children of Worcester in need.
She leaves behind her children, Korey-Lynn Krier and her husband, Joseph of Framingham and Jamie Bastille and her husband, Jason of Dover, NH; six grandchildren, Justin Krier, Hannah Krier, Emily Bastille, Julia Bastille, Sarah Bastille and Kaitlyn Bastille; her siblings, Michael Whittemore and his wife, Melody, Robin Burdick and her husband, Homer, David Whittemore and Diane; her in-laws, Michael Zibolis, Kathy Kotel, Steve Kotel and his wife, Donna ,Devra Kotel; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Kris also leaves behind Fran Pisegna, her loving partner for the last fifteen years.
Besides her parents, Kris was predeceased by her husband, James F. Kotel in February of 2003 and her siblings, Laurie Zibolis, Mark Whittemore and John Whittemore.
Family and friends will celebrate Kris’ life with visiting hours on June 29th 2-5pm at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home. Immediately following her funeral service, the family will host a gathering at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill to celebrate her beautiful life. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation in Kristin Kotel’s honor may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester.
