West Boylston
Lawrence H. Grady 65, of 590 Prospect St. died Monday, Sept. 13, at home after illness.
He leaves a daughter, Katie Grady of Oxford and two close friends, Paul Cavanaugh and Caron Borowy both of West Boylston. He was born in Worcester, son of Edward and Florence (Henry) Grady and graduated from North High School and Lowell Technical Institute. He was a Veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Grady began his career with the Mass Highway Department in June of 1964 as a Clerk tallyman. He was promoted to Laboratory Inspector in July of 1966 and to Jr. Engineering Aid in April of 1967 where he worked in the Research and Material Division until December of 1972 when he was assigned to the Survey Division. He was promoted in March of 1973 to Senior Engineering Aid and subsequently reassigned to Research and Materials. In December of 1973 he was promoted to General Construction Inspector in the Construction Division where he was promoted to a Civil Engineer I position in March of 1981 and to a Civil Engineer II position in June of 1983. He worked as an assistant resident engineer on numerous construction projects in this capacity until his passing and will long be remembered by the people with whom he worked. He served on the West Boylston Board of Health and was an avid antique dealer and collector. He was a member of the Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers and Scientists.
A Funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 16 from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston St., Worcester. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Calling Hours are Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
