WEST BOYLSTON-Lawrence P. Rheaume, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 9 at home surrounded by his family.
He leaves his loving wife of 60 years, Pauline (Tufts) Rheaume; his son, Gregory A. and his wife Elizabeth Rheaume of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, Toby, Renee, William and Georgeanna; a great grandson, Antony, nieces and nephews. His beloved daughter, Denise S. "DeDe" Rheaume died in 1999. A sister, Rita Marcellonis and two brothers, Roger and Norman predeceased him. A close friend and fishing partner, Hank Daigle also predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of William and Odrena (Lamountain) Rheaume and graduated from South High School and Worcester Junior College. Lawrence grew up in Worcester and moved to West Boylston in the 1950's. Mr. Rheaume was the general manager for the former Fitchburg Foundry for 35 years and was also a pattern maker. He was a semi pro soccer player and played for the Worcester Scandinavians in the 40's. He was a WW II Army Veteran serving in England and Scotland with Engineer Corp. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Boylston American Legion Post %23204 and the VFW in West Boylston. He enjoyed gardening, his summer home at Whitins Reservoir, traveling to Maine and spending time with his grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday, January 12 from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 W. Boylston St. with a Mass at 12:00 PM at Our lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday, January 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
