Leonard K. Englund 88, of 6 Gates Rd. died Sunday (April 14) in UMASS Memorial Medical Center-Belmont St. Campus, Worcester after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 63 years Leone E. (Moody) Englund, a son, Bruce L. Englund and a daughter, Jeanne L. Silven both of Princeton, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester son of Knut R. and Licea (Green) Englund. He graduated from Wentworth Institution in Boston with a degree in Electrical Engineering and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston.

He was the Vice President for Warren and Bigelow Electrical Contractors for 30 years retiring in 1975, prior to that he worked for on the Manhattan Project at MIT and at the University of California Berkeley. Following retirement he was a part-time Princeton Police Officer for several years.

He was a Life staff member of MIT and was sited by the US Government for his work on the Manhattan Project, he was a member and past president of the Princeton Senior Citizens, a member of the Massachusetts Police Association, Worcester Kiwanis Club, Worcester Executives Association, Worcester Auxiliary Police Department, Princeton Congregational Church, and a 32nd Degree Mason at the Morning Star Lodge AF%2BAM and a member of the Aletheia Groto. He was also a avid fisherman and Hunter.

A Funeral Service and Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Princeton Library 2 Hall Dr. Princeton 01541 or the Princeton Ambulance Fund 8 Town Hall Dr. Princeton 01541.
