Linda L. Bergstrom

WORCESTER
Linda L. Bergstrom, 64, of Worcester passed away Tuesday, December 14 in the Autumn Village.
Linda leaves a brother Calvin W. Bergstrom and a sister-in-law Reta C. Bergstom both of Millbury; a step-daughter, Paula Tabor and her husband Kenneth; and two grandchildren, Brett and Trevor Tabor all of Westfield. She was born in Worcester daughter, of the late C. Walter and Charlotte L. (Piskator) Bergstrom. She was predeceased by her step-mother, Dorothy R. (Rauth) Bergstrom. She graduated from South High School, Bridgewater State College, received her master's degree in education from Worcester State College and did post graduate studies at Anna Marie College and Worcester State College.
Linda was a teacher at Burncoat Senior and North High School for 36 years, before retiring. She was most proud of designing a program for students who dropped out of high school and wanted a second chance at an education. She worked in coordination with pre-trial diversion district courts, neighborhood youth corps, probation departments and child guidance programs during this time. This program, known as the Returnee Program was cited in a special report by the National School Public Relations Association entitled "Alternative Schools: Why, What, Where and How Much" in April of 1977.
She was a member of the National Education Association, the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Educational Association of Worcester. She was president of the Worcester Women's High School Teachers Association. Linda was also a member of many many professional and civic associations and committees.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 17, at 11 AM in Quinsigamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St. Burial will be in All Faith Cemetery.
