WORCESTER-Linda Ann (Matte) Crowley, 68, passed away Wednesday, August 26 in the Ayer Valley Nursing Center.
I think of that magic day 49 years ago when I first saw those beautiful blue Matte eyes and that smile. I knew nothing would ever be the same. Thanks baby doll for giving me a wonderful life.
Linda is the daughter of the late Arthur I. Matte and Mable B. (Smick) Matte of Webster. She leaves her husband, Lance B. Crowley, her daughter, Julia Rose Crowley, and grandchildren Joseph E. Gutierrez-Crowley and Graciela M. Gutierrez-Crowley, all of Worcester. Her sister Jo Ann Fontanella and her husband Mark, brother Dale Matte and his wife Sherry, brother Alan Matte, sister Kathy Nawrocki and her husband Steve, brother Arthur Matte and his wife Shelly all of Webster, and brother Richard Matte of Southbridge. She also leaves a chosen grandson Daniel Gutierrez of Worcester and chosen daughter Stephanie Phillips of Millbury and many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her brother Stanley Smick, and brother Guy Matte.
Linda worked for the Worcester Public Schools Nutrition department for over 30 years, starting as a 3 hour helper, and ending as supervisor of operations. A member of St. Stephen’s Parish, she helped run the social club and worked its bingo for almost 20 years. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
We would like to thank the staff at Ayer Valley Rehab and Nursing, especially Michelle and Tammy, for their loving care.
