Lois (Freeman) Varjabedian

Lois (Freeman) Varjabedian, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge.
She was the wife of the late Dr. Anthony Varjabedian who passed away in 2006.
Mrs. Varjabedian was born in Boston on November 18, 1926 and was raised in Waltham. She graduated from Waltham High School in 1944. Lois then graduated from Mount Auburn School of Nursing in Cambridge in 1948. Lois also attended Boston University and Clark University. She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps at Mount Auburn Hospital. Later that year, she relocated to Worcester and began working at Worcester State Hospital. It was there that she met her husband, Dr. Anthony Varjabedian, who at the time was the head of Psychiatry. From 1951 until 1953 Mrs. Varjabedian honorably served her country in the United States Navy Reserves where she was stationed at St. Albans Hospital in Long Island, New York.
Mrs. Varjabedian was active in the Worcester County Hearing and Speech Center for over 25 years. Her biggest joys were having her family over where she hosted countless Sunday dinners and holidays. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur Varjabedian and his wife, Ann Marie and Aram Varjabedian and his wife, Corinne; her step son, Michael Varjabedian; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Ani, KielyAnn, Laura and Anthony D. Varjabedian; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Her family wishes to thank Griswold Home Health Care and the nurses and staff of the Lydia Taft Nursing Home for the exceptional care that they provided to Lois.
Family and friends will gather to honor Mrs. Varjabedian's life on Tuesday, August 7th from 9:30am until 10:30am at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am at the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 635 Grove St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery. The family asks that memorial donations be considered to Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 635 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605 or to the NEADS World Class Service Dogs, 305 Redemption Rock Trail South, Princeton, MA 01541.
