Lorretta M. Boyle

WORCESTER-Lorretta M. "Tetta" Boyle of Worcester, MA, died April 28, 2011 in her home after a short illness with her family by her side. She was a devoted friend and loving aunt. She was born on March 27th 1920 in Worcester.

Lorretta graduated from the former St. Peter's High School in 1938 and New England School of Accounting in Worcester MA in 1940. Lorretta was employed at Crompton and Knowles Corporation as an Executive Secretary in the Engineering Department from 1941 to 1973. From 1973 to 1987, she worked at Fairlawn Hospital as an Executive Secretary to the President.

Lorretta was the daughter of William T. Boyle and Margaret (O'Connor) Boyle, both from County Kerry, Ireland. She is predeceased by her brother Reverend Francis X. Boyle, sisters Catherine M. Smith and Margaret E. Boyle, her brother-in-law Harold D. Smith Sr., and nephew Harold D. Smith Jr. and his wife Eleanor (Tapley) Smith.

Lorretta leaves 2 nieces Mary A. Randell and husband Bernard C. Randell and Margaret (Peg) H. Handlin and her husband Edward J. Handlin Jr., 11 great nieces and nephews and 25 great, great nieces and nephews as well as her cousin Margaret Kent of Worcester, MA.

Lorretta was a founding member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish and past President of the Altrusa Club of Worcester, member of Mass Hospital Association of Healthcare Executive Assistants as well as a member of the former Fairlawn Hospital Auxillary, member of Guild of Our Lady of Providence and Christ the King Social Club.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, with a 10:00 AM Mass at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Visiting hours for Lorretta are Monday, May 2nd from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, Mont Marie, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040-2739 or to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
