Louis (Lou) L. Farber, was an eternal optimist who lived a long and inspirational life full of joy. He always looked on the bright side and there wasn’t a day he wasn’t laughing. Lou passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at home in Worcester, Massachusetts. Lou was born to Daniel Farber and Juanita (Dill) in Worcester, Massachusetts, the oldest of two children. His brother David predeceased him. He was a graduate of Classical High School and Boston University.
His managerial style and ability to connect with people in a positive way made him a success at the L. Farber Leather Company and later at Best Rest Mattress Company.
Lou was quite an athlete in his day! The highlight of his senior year in high school was his selection to the City All-Star baseball team. If you knew Lou, you knew that he was an avid, formidable and accomplished tennis player who would play with anyone, anywhere, anytime. He played tennis for the love of the game.
Another favorite past time was his dedication to the art of the joke. Receiving a one-of-a-kind envelope in the mail from Lou was guaranteed to make you smile and likely chuckle. People looked forward to reading Lou’s responses to the latest Worcester T&G op-ed, which were always direct concise and witty.
Lou was happily married to two wonderful women. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gail (Grindell) and is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kathleen (Drawbridge.)
He also leaves his son Douglas Farber and wife Lisa of Venice, Florida, daughter Amy Shumway and husband Paul of Pelham, MA. His daughter, Kara L. Farber, predeceased him.
He leaves two cherished grandchildren, Julia and Sarah Farber and his beloved cats, Simba and Fritz.
