Lynette Hopper

d. October 31, 2016

WEST BOYLSTON-Lynette (Kirk) Hopper, age 87, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2016 at UMass Medical Center Pulmonary ICU Unit after a long and incredibly courageous battle with COPD. Her loving family was by her side.

Lynn was born in Clinton, daughter of Albert H. and Elsie M. (Whitcomb) Kirk. She married her best friend Stanley in 1949, and they lived most of their married life in West Boylston where they shared fifty-nine wonderful, happy years together before he passed in 2008. She leaves her "little brother" Dr. David Kirk of St. Louis, MO, her "favorite daughter" Sheryl Keddy and her husband Bruce of Holden, her other "favorite daughter" Cynthia Elkatiss of West Boylston, as well as her three adoring grandchildren, Jason Hooten, Nathan Hooten and Erin Daley and her husband Will; two beautiful great grandchildren Olivia Paradise and Liam Daley as well as step-granddaughters, Rebecca Metivier and Catherine Keddy, and step great-grandchildren, Tyler and Stephanie Haskins and Megan Moreira. Her loving, joyous and generous spirit, her stunning smile and her twinkling eyes will be missed forever.

Lynn worked for many years at Clinton Hospital and Milford Hospital before retiring, and then enjoyed herself cheering for the Red Sox, reading, doing crossword puzzles and creating stunning embroidery pictures and crocheting. Her hands were never idle. Most recently, she created many beautiful afghans, hats and scarves for various charitable organizations and to raise money to support the Residents Activity Fund where she has resided at Sterling Village for the last year and a half.
She was a lifelong member of the Auxiliary of Post 204 of the American Legion and served as its secretary for almost 30 years. Many will also remember Lynn and Stan as the committed and dedicated manager's for the American Legion baseball team for several decades.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the UMass Emergency Room and those in the Pulmonary ICU. Most especially, we want to thank the caring and compassionate employees at Sterling Village who treated her like family with love, caring and respect during her stay with them. We cannot thank them enough.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at 11:00 am at FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston. A visiting hour will also be held on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sterling Village Resident Council Fund in Memory of Lynette, 18 Dana Hill Rd., Sterling, MA 01564.
