Madelene V. (Rooney) Boyle, 86, of 15 Squantum St died Thursday (Jan10) at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center after an illness.

Her husband Joseph L. Boyle died in 1974. She leaves two sons, James B. Boyle of Worcester and Thomas P. Boyle of West Boylston, a sister, Rita T. Rooney of Worcester, three grandchildren. She was born in Brooklyn, daughter of Franklin and Mary (McCabe) Rooney. She was raised by her step-father James Ranckers. She graduated from Commerce High School and the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.

She taught Nurse's Aids in the MDTA Program and the Career Educational Training Center until retiring in 1974, prior to that she was a private duty nurse.

She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, she was a member of Hillcrest County Club and avid golfer.

A Funeral will be held Tuesday(Jan15) from Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston West Boylston with a Mass at 10 a.m. St. Joan of Arc Church 570 Lincoln St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
