WORCESTER-Madelyn C. (Clish) Wankmiller, 98, formerly of Mill St. died Monday, Oct. 31 at The Willows in Westborough.
Her husband of 40 years, Max Wankmiller died in 1972. She leaves a sister, Marguerite Brodeur, and a nephew, Mark Brodeur, of San Diego, CA, and a niece, Susan Sexton of Ledyard, CT, and several grandnieces and nephews
She was born in Norwich, CT the daughter of Delor and Margaret (Crotty) Clish. She graduated from Connecticut College in 1927 and did her graduate work in Library Science at Western Reserve in Cleveland. She worked at the New York Public Library, New Britain Public Library and was the associate librarian for the City of Worcester before retiring in 1972. She lived a charitable and productive life enriching the lives of those she touched. She will be deeply missed.
The funeral Mass will be Friday, Nov. 4 at 11:00a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 22 Maple Ave., Uncasville, CT. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Uncasville, CT. There are no calling hours. CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester is directing arrangements.
