Sterling-Malcolm P. Scales, 76, died Friday, July 21 in Healthalliance, Leominster after an illness.
He leaves his wife Linda (Waterhouse) Scales, A son Malcolm M. Scales and his wife Melissa of Auburn, two grandchildren: Alexander and Rebecca Scales, a brother Robert G. Scales and his wife Susan of Hawthorne, FL, a sister-in-law Martha Scales of Georgia and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Edward H. Scales. Malcolm was born in Holden, son of Fred L. and Elsie M. (Goodale) Scales. He graduated from North High School and served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt.
He was a machinist at the Norton Company for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Harley Davidson motorcycle owner group. He was a longtime participant in Emily’s Charity Ride. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the fireworks at the Sterling fair every year. Malcolm and Linda enjoyed wintering in Daytona Beach since 2007.
Family and friends will gather Friday, August 4th at 10:30am for a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM in Oakdale United Methodist Church, 15 North Main St., West Boylston MA. Burial in Hope Cemetery, Worcester will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation at give.michaeljfox.org
