Margaret B. (Schollard) Burke 97, formerly of Whipple St. and Ft. Lauderdale, died Sunday, Oct.26 at the Life Care Center of Auburn, after an illness.

Her husband Raymond J. Burke died in 1971. She leaves six daughters, Barbara A. Williams, Joan M. LaPlante, Eleanor L. Burke and Patricia A. Glodis all of Worcester, Peggy L. Trotto of Boylston and Sharon M. Poulin of Holden; a sister, Hazel Marc-Aurele of Boylston; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of, John J. and Anna (Dorrett) Schollard. She graduated from Classical High School and attended Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a Police Matron for the Worcester Police Department for 26 years, retiring in 1976.

She was a founding member of St. Catherine of Sweden Church and was active in their Woman's Rosary Sodality and was an Honorary Scout Leader for the Girl Scouts of America at the church. She was a charter member of the original Quinsigamond School Mother's Club. She enjoyed wintering in Ft. Lauderdale and taking care of animals and contributing to Humane Societies. She was a longtime Quinsigamond Village resident and Mayor Mariano proclaimed October 19, 1997,as Margaret Burke day for the City of Worcester.

A Funeral will be held Wednesday, Oct 29, from LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME 36 Butler St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling Hours are Tuesday, Oct 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Bosler Humane Society P.O.
