WORCESTER-Margaret E. (Jackson) Deedy of Worcester passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5 at home after an illness. Her husband of 33 years, William B. Deedy passed away in 1986. She leaves four children, William B. Deedy, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne of Holden Marthamary C. Magner and her husband James of Framingham, Daniel F.X. Deedy and his wife Anne and John J. Deedy all of Worcester; five grandchildren; Christopher, Megan, Michael, Timothy and James and many nieces and nephews. Her brother, Joseph and two sisters, Marie and Martha predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of John and Margaret (McNeilly) Jackson. Margaret graduated from Ascension High School, St. Vincent's School of Nursing and attended Boston College School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital and also worked as a private duty nurse before retiring. Previously, she worked at the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham and was a nursing supervisor at the former Belmont Home.
Margaret was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, the Catholic Nurses' Association, the St. Vincent's Alumni Association, the Notre Dame Alumni Association, Dollars for Scholars Committee at Assumption College, St. John's High School Parent's Association, and the Thousand Dollar Club at St. John's High School. After her retirement she loved to travel extensively throughout Europe and Asia. Margaret was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday, September 8 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
