Margaret Montague O'Neill Monahan

Margaret "Patsy" O"Neill Monahan died November 29th at Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster, Mass. after a brief illness. Margaret was born February 8, 1912 in Pawtucket RI. She was the daughter of Margaret F. Montague and Dr. Joseph B. O"Neill. A longtime resident of Dudley, Mass., she lived the last few years at Lanessa Nursing Home in Webster, Mass.

Her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Monahan, died April 22, 1995. She leaves her son Robert J. and his wife Cecile of North Grosvenordale, CT, Mary M. Skeary and her husband John of Centerville, MA., Michael O. and his wife Anne of Harwichport, MA,
Joel C. of Sutton, MA, Margaret Harder and her husband Richard of San Francisco, CA,Terrence P. and his wife Cheryl of Webster, MA and Joan S. Klebart of Webster, MA. She was predeceased by her son Noel B. Monahan who died in February of 1995. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Margaret graduated from St. Mary's Parochial School, Pawtucket, RI, Sacred Heart Academy, Fall River, Mass. and Emmanuel College, Boston, MA. She also took courses at U.R.I., Assumption College, R.I.C.E., and Harvard University.
She taught at Joseph Jencks, Jr. H.S. in Pawtucket, RI, Douglas High School, Douglas, MA, and special education in Southbridge, MA. She was much loved by her family, friends and students and will be missed by all. She had a friendly word to everyone she met and never met a person she didn't like. Never was she too busy to entertain, cook, and talk to guests and relatives. She had a way to bring excitement to her grandchildren and great grandchildren with special little gifts she always had tucked away.

She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Rosary Society of St. Andrew Babola,and the Nichols College Women's Club. She entertained the Catholic Society of Students of Nichols for many years.

There are no calling hours. She was a long time communicant of St. Anthony Padua Church in Dudley, MA. where a memorial mass will be held a on Saturday, December 15th, 2007 at 11:30 am. Burial will be at a later date at St. John's Cemetery in Worcester, MA at the convenience of the family.
