WORCESTER-Margaret E. "Peggy" (Mackintire) Rushford, 73, of Worcester, she died Thursday, May 28 in St. Vincent Hospital, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her devoted husband of 52 years, Francis X. Rushford; a son, James F. Rushford of Boston; three daughters, Debra A. McCann of Worcester, Marianne J. Rushford of Worcester and Linda M. Kubilis of Charlton; four grandchildren whom she adored, Joseph, Megan and Leah McCann and Madison Kubilis. She also leaves a brother, John Mackintire of Worcester, a sister, Mary Birath of Holden and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three sisters, Patricia Card, Elizabeth Keefe and Grace Johnson.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Scott and Grace (Fielding) Mackintire and graduated from St. Peter's High School. Peggy was a top Tupperware Sales Manager for 15 years. She enjoyed reading, shopping, her trips to Foxwoods Casino and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 2 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln Street. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Monday, June 1 from 4-7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy's name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Research Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02215.
