Margaret A. Sutton

WORCESTER-Margaret A. (Scales) Sutton, 93, passed away Friday, May 22 after a short illness at Beaumont Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family.

Her husband of 51 years, George O. Sutton died in 2000. She leaves her son, Gerard G. Sutton of Worcester; her daughter, Carol M. and her husband, William Hagerty of Worcester with whom she lived for the past few years and their support and love provided great comfort and joy to her life. She also leaves nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rita Cummings and Mildred Dyer and her great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Fitzgibbons

She was born in Worcester the daughter of George F. and Mary L. (Brown) Scales and lived here all her life. She graduated from Ascension High School. Mrs. Sutton worked for Brown Shoe, Zayre and Ames Department Stores. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Auburn. She loved her family and received considerable joy from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo, instant lottery tickets, crocheting, reading and yard sales.

The funeral will be Tuesday, May 26 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. A visiting hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. In place of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 10 Hammond St., Worcester, MA 01610.
