Maria A. Ortiz

Maria A. (Santiago) Ortiz, 85, died Thursday, July 20, 2023, in UMass Memorial Hospital, Belmont Street, Worcester.

   She leaves her husband of 72 years, Daniel Ortiz, four sons; David Ortiz and his fiancé Nancy Vazquez of Milford, NH, Jose Ortiz and his companion Blanca Baez of Chicopee, Luis Ortiz of Worcester and Miguel Ortiz of Worcester, a daughter Milagros "Millie" Ortiz and her fiancé Gregory Calloway of Worcester, nine grandchildren; Jason, David Jr., Jenilee, Dereck, Miguel, Krystal, Tenishia, Christopher & Maxwell, 16 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a son Daniel Ortiz, Jr.

   Maria was born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, daughter of Severo and Maria (Valentin) Santiago.  She was a woman of strong faith and attended the Pentecostal Church.  She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting .  She loved to cook for her family and was always baking cakes for them.  She was known for her macaroni salad that everybody loved.

  A visitation will be held on Thursday July 27, from 10:00-11:00 AM in Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
