Worcester- Maria Rodriguez Quilez passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Many knew her as, "Doña María", "Doña Mery" and "La Tia Roca".
She was born a daughter to Maria Providencia Quilez and Jose Rodriguez in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. Maria was married to her beloved husband, Manuel Tubens Soto, for over 35 years before he passed away in 1987. After working many years for Bumble Bee Tuna, she retired to spend her time doing what she loved the most, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Anyone who knew Maria knew her as a very generous, loving woman that could make friends anywhere she went. She enjoyed bingo, cooking, listening to music, watching tv and family reunions. She was well known for her "sorullitos dulce con quesos" and her "rice and beans" they were like no other!
Maria leaves behind many that love and will miss here dearly including her children; Walter Tubens, Samuel Tubens, Ruben Tubens, Israel Tubens and the late Manuel Tubens. She also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcomed to celebrate Maria's life on Tuesday, February 23,2021 with calling hours from 10:00am until 12:00pm with a funeral service immediately following in the Callahan, Fay and Caswell Life Celebration Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
