Marian D. (Cook) Lord, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Northborough.
Marian was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Averill E. and Ada G. (Pross) Cook. She graduated from South High School and Becker Junior College. A lifelong resident of Worcester, Marian relocated to the Whitney Place community in Northborough five years ago, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff there, as well as the staff of the Beaumont Nursing Center, where Marian spent her final days. Marian worked for 23 years as a senior secretary at New England Electric Systems in Westborough prior to her retirement. She was a longtime member of the United Congregational Church of Worcester and the Stella Chapter # 3, Order of the Eastern Star. An accomplished figure skater and a longtime coach, Marian helped guide many area skaters to success. She was a member of US Figure Skating, the Professional Skaters Association and The Skating Club of Worcester.
Marian was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Louis E. Lord in 2002. She was also predeceased by her son, Robert Lord in 2013 and her two brothers, Robert and Theodore Cook. She will be forever missed by her daughter, Lynne-Ann Bonnici and her husband, Chris of Shrewsbury; her daughter-in-law, Julie Lord of Natural Bridge, VA; her two grandsons, S. Enzo Bonnici and Enrico L Bonnici; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Marian's life on Saturday, December 15th from 11a.m. -12 Noon at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A prayer service will follow the visiting hour at 12 Noon. Burial in Rural Cemetery, Worcester will be private.
