Marilyn Jean (Kimball) Dalton, 80, a lifelong Boylston resident, died peacefully at home with her family at her side Tuesday, April 7. She is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Charles A. Dalton; a son, William C. Dalton and his wife Sharon of Phillipston; two daughters, Diane J. Hersey and her husband John of Boylston and Ginny A. Menard and her husband Paul of West Boylston; two brothers, her twin, Allyn J. Kimball of Dalton and Edward H. Kimball and his wife Rose of Boylston; a sister, Arline F. Powers and her husband Edward of South Windsor, CT; nine grandchildren, Seth, Nigel, Shawnette, Krista, Sean, Mike, Amy, Ryan and Megan; a great-grandson, Sebastien and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry J. and Rosabel (Hastings) Kimball; a brother, Robert H. Kimball and a sister, Mary L. Johnson.
Marilyn Jean graduated from Girls Trade High School and in her younger years worked at F.W. Woolworth Company. While working at Woolworth, she went out dancing with a coworker and met her husband Charles "Chuck" Dalton. Shortly after, on June 27, 1953 they married in St. Peter's Church in Worcester, with a reception at Alcaro's Restaurant in Shrewsbury. For their honeymoon, they vacationed in New York City.
She enjoyed knitting for her family, having her children and grandchildren at her house, going on outings with the Morgan Retirees Club, listening to music, especially Daniel O'Donnell, and watching the Red Sox and golf. She was a wonderful mother, who always had snacks ready for her children coming off the bus and who would knit new clothes for her daughters' dolls when times were tight. She enjoyed sending time in Maine with her family.
Her family would like to thank the Jewish Home Hospice for their loving care.
