at 10:00am in CHRIST THE KING CHURCH.
Marilyn (O'Brien) Dowd, 83, of Worcester died Monday February 16, 2026, after a life dedicated to her family, friends, and faith. She leaves her sons: Philip and his wife Johanna, Dennis, Donald, and Paul and his wife Colleen; a sister Norinne O’Brien Burke; a brother Bernard O’Brien; her cherished grandchildren: Meghan, Tom, Declan, Delaney and Charleigh; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, Philip Dowd.
Marilyn grew up on Vernon Hill, the daughter of Bernard and Mae (Tangney) O’Brien. She was a graduate of the Ascension High School and attended the St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Radiologic Technology. She worked for over twenty years at St. Vincent’s and UMass hospitals, retiring as the Director of Mammography.
Marilyn was a member of Christ the King Church where she taught CCD for many years. She was also past president of the Worcester Swim Club, the Ascension Chapter Notre Dame Alumnae, and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Division 36.
Marilyn loved summers in Wellfleet, winters in Bradenton, traveling, Irish dancing and spending time with her family and friends. Above all Marilyn was a proud wife, mother and grandmother.
All are welcome to Visiting Hours on Sunday, February 22nd from 4pm to 6:30pm at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, MA. Marilyn's Funeral Mass will begin at 10am on Tuesday, February 24rd at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1052 Pleasant St, Worcester, MA. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to non-profit Post-22, 1300 Union Street #201, Westborough, MA 01581.
